Vintage Buttons

I was reorganizing my sewing box and came across these. They made me think of my mom and the hours she spent sewing when I was growing up. I can almost smell the smell of sewing machine oil as the motor started to heat up and hear the steady tut-tut-tut-tut-tut of the needle going up and down.

I wanted to be near mom when she was working but she didn't want us kids to get underfoot, so I remember her letting me look through her jar of old buttons. I'd sift and sort for what seemed like hours. It was like a little treasure hunt to find the prettiest or most unique ones.

I have my own modest collections of vintage buttons, but I think these may be the only ones I have that are still on the card and this card is in rough shape. I'd like to see if I can find some more to collect. They are such fun.

What do you like to collect? Are there childhood memories associated with it?

P.S. The 31 day Journey is still in progress. You can read posts HERE.

My mom had a jar of buttons I played with on the floor while she sewed. I still love buttons. A lot.
